Windows Vista is touting the new Click Once application deployment mechanism.  This new mechanism could prove challenging for administrators since developers can begin to do their own "pull" updates to client computers simply by putting the right files on a ...

file or web server.  Click Once uses XML manifests for specification of how to install applications.  It also provides for automatic pull updating of clients.  .NET developers can also make use of .NET apis for more granular control of how updates occur.

Of course this could also route around many established processes that help ensure service levels for desktop change management, network bandwidth availability, enterprise standardized runtimes and end user update experiences.  Get in front of this by taking a look at the following links and starting some conversations with your in-house developers.
